When it comes to fishing, picking the right baits can be super important as differnt NZ fish have different needs. For example, Kahawai will eat just about anything becaus of their low standards for food quality. They will eat things like shiney metal spoons, squid and smelly bait/live bait like piper and pilchards. Overall the Kahawai are vicious fighters for anything thay can get their hands on. On the otherhand, we have the kingfish. The kingfish is one of New Zealands most sought out after fish because of its beautiful size and quality meat. Kishfish are high quality meat eaters, which means they mostly feed on live fish and lures. Anything that gives the Kingfish a bit of attention is sure to be gone.

Dfferent lures are used for differnt fish but different lures can also be used on the certian conditions. There are thousands of differently designed lures targeting each fish ranging from freshwater to saltwater. Hard lures are often for rougher conditions and to attraction through light. A lot of many fish attack through the shining of a light. This is why lures like meal spoons, plastic glide baits and hollow jerbaits work well for lighter conditions (eg. sunny). Soft lures are mainly to attract attention through vibrations and realism fooling the fish into bitter a bit of rubber on a hook.
